Political parties in Serbia's parliament agree it is necessary to condemn the crimes committed during the wars in the former Yugoslavia, but disagree whether a declaration on the Srebrenica massacre should be adopted.
President od Serbia Boris Tadic launched an initiative for the Serbian parliament to prepare and adopt a resolution condemning the Srebrenica massacre, stressing that Serbia has an obligation to the Hague based UN Tribunal to undertake such a measure. He also stated that the Parliament would pass two resolutions, one on Srebrenica and another on "Serb victims". On January 15, 2009, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe passed a resolution calling on member states to condemn the genocide through parliamentary acts. In the region, Croatia and Montenegro have done so to date.
